Josh Towers, a 32-year old veteran, has joined the Yankees to provide a fresh arm in a tired bullpen. After a 5 1/2 hour, 15 inning game last night, this is a much needed move. Towers, who signed a minor league contract in early May, has signed a big league contract to join the Yankees. According to yankees.com, Towers last appearance was a 7 inning shutout where he allowed only 5 hits, 3 walks while striking out 2. In Towers' career of 7 major league seasons, he's compiled a 45-55 record and a save, with a 4.96 ERA. The former Oriole and Blue Jay could be a candidate for the 5th spot in the rotation if Mitre continues to struggle and if Gaudin struggles as well.
